Harco Bolhuis, the owner of garden center Abbing, has given us the assignment to develop, realize and supervise the entire concept. This means that we were able to create a unique design together with the entrepreneur.
Looking at the function and surface, we have opted for a combination between modern and botanical greenhouse. The round greenhouse serves as the central entrance, referring to old botanical greenhouses and a shape that has not been used often. This, combined with the tighter wide-span greenhouses, creates a sleek whole and an embrace of the inner area, 'the courtyard' part of the building. In order to be in contact with the elements and to create an optimal outdoor experience, the choice was made for a greenhouse that can be opened completely. We call this Rovero-type greenhouse.
Attached to the rear of the property is a huge outdoor sales area where outdoor plants and related items have been sold for over 129 years. The traditional nursery Abbing is a household name in the region and will usher in a new era with the new building. GardenCenterAdvice was able to perform both the external design and internal design.
By looking at an optimal routing and the distribution of m2, we have managed to find a nice balance in product range. We are also allowed to supervise the selection of suppliers, which makes it possible to actually monitor the total concept and make adjustments where necessary in the future.
